ABOUT US

Bundeena Bowling & Sports Club is a non-profit organisation with the welfare of the local community at heart. The Club was founded at a meeting of 19 residents on the 24th June 1970. In early 1972 land was leased from Sutherland Shire Council, and with the help of a partial bank loan, fees and contributions and the blood, sweat and tears of local Bundeena and Maianbar residents, the Club House and Greens were built. The ladies’ Inaugural Meeting was held at the BMA Hall on the 7th June 1972 with 24 attending.

HISTORY

The letter shown below is from 15th May 1972 and states:

“Well, it’s under way!  The land leased from Council has been cleared and establishment of No. 1 Green is well advanced.  The Club’s honorary architect has drawn up the plans of the club-house and these have been lodged with Council.

Quotations will soon be sought for the building work and the club will then be in a position to have final talks with the bank on the extent of financial assistance.

It is axiomatic that the club will have to help itself too. It will be expected to raise a greater proportion of the total outlay than it has done to date, even if this is in the form of unsecured guarantees.

The opportunity is now available to the people of Bundeena, Maianbar and District to ‘join the club’.

Annual sub. for a full member at present is only six dollars. There is no joining fee provided the applicant takes out a debenture of not less than $50; this will bear interest at 6 1/2 % percent.

There you have the story. Don’t delay. Support is required now! All committee members have receipt books. Their names, addresses (and telephone numbers) are:

Ian Layland – President

Ben Weekes – Treasurer

Murray Armytage – Vice President

Greg Ryan - Director

Barry Watkins - Director
